MSU College of Music Coaches Sisaket Wittayalai Marching Band to Gold Medal, Advancing to World Finals

Mahasarakham University’s College of Music supported a high school marching band through intensive music training, leading the team to win a gold medal and qualify for the world championship finals.

The College of Music, Mahasarakham University, continued its mission of academic service to society by sending music experts and student representatives to provide intensive coaching for the Sisaket Wittayalai School Marching Band. The training resulted in the band winning a gold medal in the preliminary round and earning a place in the world championship finals.

Between December 13–17, 2025, the College of Music organized an academic outreach project led by Asst. Dean for Administration, Dr. Watchara Homhuan, together with student representatives. The team conducted on-site training at Sisaket Wittayalai School, Sisaket Province, serving as instructors to prepare the school’s marching band through an integrated training program.

The coaching focused on four key areas: marching band musicianship, technical rehearsal skills, performance standards, and experience sharing. This comprehensive approach aimed to strengthen both musical ability and performance confidence.

As a result of the intensive preparation, the Sisaket Wittayalai School Marching Band delivered an outstanding performance in the preliminary competition on December 17, 2025. The judging panel awarded the band a Gold Medal with a score of 83.38 points, demonstrating the success of inter-institutional knowledge sharing and highlighting the strong potential of Thai youth in music.

The band is scheduled to compete in the Final Round on December 19, 2025. Mahasarakham University invites the public to join in cheering for these young musicians as they represent Thailand on the world stage.
