MSU Welcomes Mrs. Liu Hongmei, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen

Mahasarakham University welcomed the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen as part of efforts to strengthen academic, cultural, and language cooperation, while celebrating the opening of the 9th “Silk Road” Chinese Language and Culture Skills Competition.

On November 21, 2025, Mahasarakham University, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prayook Srivilai, President of Mahasarakham University, together with Mr. Lin Haoye, Chinese Director of the MSU Confucius Institute, and university executives and faculty members, welcomed Mrs. Liu Hongmei, Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen.

Mrs. Liu visited the university to preside over the opening ceremony of the 9th “Silk Road” Chinese Language and Culture Skills Competition for Higher Education Institutions in Northeast Thailand, held at the Confucius Institute Cultural Center. The event was organized by the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Khon Kaen.

During her visit, both sides exchanged views on academic development and explored areas for future collaborative research.

The competition aims to provide a platform for university students across Northeast Thailand to demonstrate their Chinese language skills and cultural knowledge. It also encourages cross-cultural understanding, strengthens communication among institutions, and inspires students to develop a deeper interest in Chinese studies.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Prayook Srivilai and Mr. Lin Haoye also attended the event to observe the competition and offer encouragement to all participants.
