MSU organizes Thai Language Course for Cambodian Students from Royal University of Phnom Penh, the Kingdom of Cambodia
MSU Launches a Program to Support the Exchange of Thai Language Learning for Students from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Kingdom of Cambodia
On April 29, 2024, Mahasarakham University (MSU) organized a program to support the exchange of Thai language learning for students from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), Kingdom of Cambodia, for the academic year 2024, at the meeting room on the 1st floor of the Academic Services Office, MSU. Assoc.Prof. Prayook Srivilai, Acting President of Mahasarakham University, welcomed the faculty and second year students from the Department of Thai, Royal University of Phnom Penh, totaling 33 people, on the occasion of their visit to exchange knowledge in Thai language teaching and learning. They received appreciation from Thai-Cambodian cultural exchange lecturers from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, MSU, and a total of 11 new students from the Kingdom of Cambodia who received scholarships from the Royal Patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Fund, Royal Thai Embassy, Siam Borommaratchakumari, to study at MSU at undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels for the academic year 2024. They traveled to study Thai language basics in preparation for international students. In the meeting room, there were administrators and faculty members from the College of Music, Faculty of Tourism and Hotel Management, Faculty of Fine-Applied Arts and Cultural Sciences, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Thai language instructors from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), and Thai language instructors for new students at Mahasarakham University from the General Education Office, as well as other staff members, all participating in welcoming the guests.
For the Thai language learning exchange program for students from RUPP, for the academic year 2024, MSU aims to support and promote Cambodian students to acquire proper knowledge, understanding, and fundamental skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in the Thai language. The university hopes that when these students successfully complete their studies, they will be able to apply their Thai language skills in education and daily life in Thailand. Additionally, they can carry this knowledge back to their own country in order to further enhance and develop the relationship between Thailand and Cambodia.
During this event, faculty members and students from the Royal University of Phnom Penh received lectures on topics such as entering and living in Thailand, including visa applications, visa extensions, re-entry, and the 90-day notification process. Mr. Kullanan Kwansakul, a foreign affairs officer, served as the lecturer. Following this, they visited various departments and units at Mahasarakham University, including the Academic Recourse Center, Palaeontological Research and Education Centre, and the Natural Medicinal Mushroom Museum. They also visited the Faculty of Science to see a demonstration of the four-legged walking robot (Unitree Go) from the Faculty of Engineering, as well as attended a live broadcast at the Division of Academic Affairs regarding the selection process for undergraduate admissions in the 3rd round of admissions for the academic year 2024. Additionally, they received information about the application process for the international student program at room B-412, Computer Center, Mahasarakham University.
