MSU Highlights “Growth with Quality” Strategy to Support More Than 49,851 Students
Mahasarakham University is moving forward with its “Growth with Quality” strategy to support more than 49,851 students in the 2025 academic year. The strategy focuses on academic readiness, infrastructure and quality of life, and an inclusive learning ecosystem. It reflects MSU’s commitment to becoming a large university with high quality and strong social impact.
With more than 49,851 students entering Mahasarakham University in the 2025 academic year, this number not only makes the institution one of the universities with the largest student populations in Thailand, but also serves as an important indicator of “national trust” from parents and young people. This achievement has become both a challenge and a major mission for the university in driving its management potential under the strategy of “Growth with Quality.” The strategy responds to an important question from society: how the university will support and develop nearly 50,000 young people to grow with the highest possible quality.
Assoc. Prof. Prayook Srivilai, Ph.D., President of Mahasarakham University, stated that “The growth in student numbers is not only a figure, but also reflects the university’s greater mission. A great university is not measured by the number of people who enter, but by the quality of people who graduate. Mahasarakham University is ready in all dimensions to support the potential of every student equally and fully. This is carried out through continuous educational quality development, together with the improvement of academic standards, research, innovation, and students’ quality of life, in order to become a truly large university with high quality.”
To show this development clearly, Mahasarakham University has set three key pillars of readiness to support the development of more than 49,851 students as follows:
Dimension 1: Academic Readiness, Education that Meets the Future
The university focuses on reforming the learning process to support students’ full potential through a flexible education system that keeps pace with global changes. This is carried out through the development and improvement of modern curricula that meet the needs of new industries, together with real-world learning experiences through work-integrated education in cooperation with workplace and business networks. This allows students to practice professional skills in real environments before graduation. The university also raises learning to international standards by creating international classroom environments that support learning exchange between Thai and international students and help develop skills for working in multicultural societies. Modern infrastructure, such as smart classrooms and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI), is also used to reduce learning limitations and improve the effectiveness of individual research and study.
Dimension 2: Infrastructure and Quality of Life Readiness
The university is creating a warm, safe, and learning-friendly “living ecosystem” that supports students 24 hours a day. This begins with an environmentally friendly internal public transportation system, together with high-speed internet networks and information systems that connect all student activities. The university also manages dormitories with standards of safety, cleanliness, and a supportive living environment in order to reduce inequality and ease the financial burden of parents. In addition, the university strengthens well-being through medical services from Suddhavej Hospital, as well as the establishment of a mental health care and counseling center with specialists who closely support students. These services are supported by modern learning spaces and a complete sports center, allowing students to spend time outside the classroom on group work, creative exchange, and exercise for an active life.
Dimension 3: Identity and an Ecosystem of Diversity
Mahasarakham University believes in the value of humanity. The university highlights the connection between local roots and the global stage by presenting contemporary Isan arts and cultural identity, including the preservation of Mor Lam knowledge and local performing arts. These efforts help students recognize the value of themselves and their communities. The university also creates an open internal ecosystem that respects diversity in gender, ideas, and beliefs, and welcomes and supports differences equally. At the same time, it works closely with communities to learn from local wisdom and develop it through research that connects local knowledge to global perspectives.
The progress of Mahasarakham University today is therefore not only about being an institution with a large number of students. It reflects the image of a “large university with high quality” that is fully ready to support the dreams of more than 49,851 young people. Mahasarakham University is ready to prove to society that every step within this yellow-gray campus is a space of opportunity and growth, where students can develop their potential and help drive the future of Thai society toward sustainable progress.
